How to create a Marketing Plan and others?

I have a class project its about a restaurant that we are creating and will eventually open soon. I have choosen to specilize in seafood. This will be a huge resturant about 100 seats. Now, I have to write a statement for each: Vision, Mission, Long-range plan, Business plan, Marketing Plan, and a Operating Budget. The problem is is that I dont know the first thing about a restaurant business which makes it hard for me to figure out what I should wright. What could I possibly say?

How To Promote My New Book (Amazon or Affiliate Program)?

I’m self-publishing my new book about to be published shortly through LightningSource. Here’s my dilemma as a self-published, self-marketing author:

1. Do I leave fulfillment to LightningSource/Amazon who will charge me 55% right off the top, leaving me with much smaller margins (the cost of the book will come from my share, the remaining 45%) and focus on just marketing the book? If I take this route, then I can’t do much for affiliates and Joint Venture partners, but reduces a lot of S&H overhead.

2. Do I do the fulfillment myself, selling the book for lower than Amazon, worrying about shipping and handling (especially international shipments, refunds, etc)? This approach will give help me pay decent amounts to affiliates, JV partners and bulk resellers, but increases my order- processing overhead.

What do you think?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The problem with doing both (which I will be doing anyway) is that when your affiliates drive traffic to your web site, and you send the visitor off to Amazon to buy the book, all of their effort has gone to waste, and you have effectively screwed your affiliates by by-passing the affiliate link.

Lulu charges ridiculously high rates – $10 for a book that LightningSource will print for me for just $4. I’m not even considering LuLu. They take too much, and I don’t get anything more for my money than, say using LightningSource distribution, which is a lot less actually.

Hi all,

I’ve been in e-Business since 1996, and have made thousands of dollars in sales through ClickBank, 1siteautomation.com (my own private lable of 1shoppingcart).

My big dilemma was to whether sell it through Amazon only, or Amazon and my own site – I didn’t want to ideally split up my focus, but I have found the answers since I first asked this question.

I have decided to primarily sell my book through my own site, http://www.NBLEB.com , and there won’t be any mention of purchasing through Amazon. That is because Amazon would normally take a 55% discount, and I’m not willing to part that much for them. I will instead use some of that money for paying my affiliates, who will be paid around $10 per sale of the book.

I have sold ebooks for thousands of dollars, and they haven’t done one bit for my reputation as an author. So, this time, I’m not after the money – I’m after the reputation and respect that comes along with being a published author.

So here’s what I finally decided, in case you’ve come to this thread and want to see how it all ends

1. Going to offer a short discount (25%) to Amazon. My local Barnes and Noble 1 mile away won’t even stock the book because “that’s not how they work”. I don’t expect any sales from a physical book store, so screw them and their 55% discount. 25% is all they get ( that too only because that’s the minimum Lightning Source will let me set

2. I will sell it primarily through my web site, and there will be no referring folks to Amazon. If someone still ends up finding the book on Amazon and buying it, then so be it. I’m not going to be doing any explicit promotion of the fact that my book is on Amazon. People will have to buy from me, US or International.

3. I’m going to charge a modest shipping rate – maybe even offer free shipping for US only. Still working out the costs.

4. I’m going to offer aggressive commissions to my affiliates.

I want to do what I want but something is holding me back?

I want to get rich from working online. From affiliate marketing, to blogs, to being a Merchant, to Adsense sites, everything. The thing is, I know I can do this, but something is holding me back. Its like I want to to it and I know the reward would be so great, but i feel like I’m not ready for it? Like maybe I’m not ready to live that kind of life just yet. Its weird I want to move on from my life..I’ve been through a lot..and I’ve never ever been well off..and to become so independent like that and to have money and finally be free of worries would mean the world to me. I would be like my own hero, I could be a role model to my little sister and to others. But I feel like I’m leaning into that future but I’m resisting it, I keep pushing it away and no matter what I do it keeps knocking on my door. I want to embrace it, I want to achieve it, I want to be that person. Maybe its because I don’t believe I can or I don’t think I deserve it. I’m not sure. Maybe you can help?

Still Living With Parents At 25?

I know the economy is hard right now. Where I work I get paid around almost 9 bucks an hour and 40 hours a week, if not over some. It’s hard-work, but you get use to it. But I want something better out of life. My purpose is to become a certified personal trainer, because that’s one of my passions. I literally take care of my body, weight-lift, run and even do online workouts with my friends on youtube. I’m investing alot in the youtube thing and also other online stuff like affiliate marketing.

It just seems I can’t find a place right now. I have to pay for my car note which is around 250 a month, Insurance which is around 130 a month, gas is expensive, food isn’t that bad. I usually don’t even have enough money for clothing, which I need badly of ( lol ). What should I do?

I pretty much was a down-turn from 21 years old to 24 and got back on track. Got a car and everything. What can any competent leader do against a free market that creates such corporations as BP, Exxon, etc?

I don’t buy that right wing nonsense about Obama this or that, concerning unemployment or anything else he has to deal with or chooses to act on.

These self-proclaimed “Small Government” republicunts would give more power to the corporations while spewing garbage about how they support small business and centralizing power away from any fair legislation.

The 1 thing Obama did do was try to listen to these republicunts at first. That was nice of him, but it was stupid. And that was his only mistake.

I can think of a few conservatives here on Y!A regularly that do not affiliate with the GOP and might see my point. I hear there are also the republicans that quit the republicunt party after being fed up by the choice of Sarah Palin, among many other dumb decisions, Sarah Palin being one not because she is female but because … of the blatantly obvious.

So my boyfriend is really into affiliate marketing if anyone knows what that is and it takes up alot of his time…He is constantly trying to make money online&because of this he says he never has time for me. He feels that doing anything like going to the movies, going to dinner, or just cuddling is a waste of time, and there is no point in doing any of those things. He told me tonight that this summer we were hardly going to spend time together because he was going to be working online nonstop…he told me that his reward for making alot of money would be hanging out with me. If he doesn’t make a lot of money than he wont hang out with me…WTF isnt that the dumbest thing u have ever heard. Now keep in mind we have been dating over 2 years and this whole affiliate thing has become more important than me and I just don’t think its right at all..

Building a Website about Online Games?

I am considering building a really cool content based website about online games. I know that this is a very hot market and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. Eventually, I would like to maybe monetize my site by placing affiliate links on it where visitors could click on links from my site and sign up for memberships or something like that.

The problem is this: I have no idea what my main subject (overall theme) would be about. I wouldn’t want to make it too general and use “online games”. The market’s too big. I want to narrow it down and target a certain audience.

First, I want to create lots of interesting / cool information before I would consider trying to make any money with it. I’m just not quite sure what information people are looking for out there or what would interest them.

Which is more popular, online kids games or online adult games? I’m leaning more towards kids games.
